Reminder System
How reminders work
ShiYu uses multiple reminder strategies to improve delivery reliability.
Instead of relying on a single notification, reminders are scheduled using several independent mechanisms so important events have multiple opportunities to reach you. The Android implementation combines exact alarms with backup scheduling and recovery logic to improve reliability.
Credit Card Reminders
By default:
- Reminder on the due date
- Multiple reminder opportunities throughout the day
- Full-screen alert support (Android)
Other Tasks
Choose from:
- Same day reminders
- One day before
- Custom reminder time
- Monthly repeating reminders
Full-Screen Alerts
On supported Android devices, ShiYu can display a full-screen reminder together with sound and notification when permissions are granted.
Reminder Recovery
If your device restarts, ShiYu automatically restores scheduled reminders after the app has been initialized and the required permissions are available.
Backup & Restore
Keep your reminders safe.
ShiYu supports:
- Local backup
- JSON export
- Restore from backup
No account is required.
Your data remains on your own device unless you choose to export it.
Permissions
ShiYu requests only the permissions necessary to provide its core functionality.
Depending on your device and platform, these may include:
- Notifications
- Exact alarms
- SMS access (Android, optional)
- Full-screen notifications (Android)
- Background execution permissions
Each permission has a specific purpose and can be reviewed at any time in your device settings.
Privacy
ShiYu is designed with a privacy-first philosophy.
- No account required
- Local-first storage
- No unnecessary personal information
- User-controlled backups
For complete details, please see the Privacy Policy.
